  • NGC 1275 (Per A, 3C 84) detected all week in high state with daily fluxes between about 0.7e-6 and 1.3e-6 with peak flare flux detected on June 26 and July 2.
  • Flare of S4 0917+44 detected in June 29 and July 1 with daily flux about 0.8e-6.

Fermi LAT Weekly report N. 463

  • Rapid outburst of CTA 102 detected on April 19 with a daily flux level of 13.2e-6 and corresponding photon spectral index of 1.9. The peak 6-hour integrated flux is 21.1e-6, about 130 times greater than the 3FGL flux, and two times the Vela flux. It decreased to a daily flux level of 5.9e-6 on April 20. More details in ATel#10292 and Flare CGCN/FERMI NOTICE #1492702671.
  • Flare of S5 1044+71 with daily flux 1.4e-6 on April 23. Peak 6-hour interval flux of 1.9e-6 (28 times the 3FGL flux). See also the Flare GCN/FERMI NOTICE #1493048036. Detected all the other days of the week.
  • Flare of 4C +28.07 (B2 0234+28) with daily flux 1.3e-6 on April 22. Detected all the other days of the week with daily fluxes above 0.7e-6.
  • 3C 279 detected all week with daily fluxes between about 0.7e-6 and 1.0e-6.
  • 3C 454.3 detected all week with daily fluxes between about 1.0e-6 and 1.5e-6.
  • 4C +01.02 (PKS 0106+01) detected all week in high state with daily fluxes between about 0.6e-6 and 1.0e-6.

Fermi LAT weekly report N. 461

  • High-redshift, z=2.4, blazar B2 1436+37B with flux of 0.3 +/- 0.1 on April 6 and 9. That is 8x its 3FGL J1438.7+3710 flux.
  • VHE blazar, 1ES 1215+303, with 1-day flux on April 9 of 0.2 +/- 0.1, that is 4x its 3FGL value. Its peak 6-hr flux is ~0.5 +/- 0.1 with photon index 1.8 +/- 0.2. Its peak LAT flux has reached ~1.0 in the past. See: http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2017ApJ...836..205A
  • New LAT source on April 7 with 1-day flux 0.4 +/- 0.1 (peak 6-hr flux of 0.6 +/- 0.2) that is positionally consistent with z=0.381 blazar, PKS 1200-051

  • CTA 102 detected all week in high state with daily fluxes between about 2.2e-6 and 3.6e-6.
  • 3C 279 detected all week in high state with daily fluxes between about 1.2e-6 and 3.5e-6.
  • 3C 454.3 detected all week with daily fluxes between about 1.0e-6 and 2.4e-6.
  • 4C +01.02 (PKS 0106+01) detected all week with daily fluxes between about 0.7e-6 and 1.2e-6.
  • Flare of PKS 2247-131 (source not in the 3FGL catalog) on March 26 with daily flux 1.8e-6 (see also: GCN/FERMI NOTICE #1490628995).
  • Flare of PKS 1830-211 (gravitationally lensed) on March 21 with daily flux about 1.4e-6.
  • No significant excess gamma-ray emission on timescales below one week associated to the cosmic neutrino event IceCube 170321 (see IceCube GCN CIRCULAR#20929 and LAT GCN CIRCULAR#20971).
  • The Crab is observed fluctuating with possible enhanced activity. A daily flux of about 3.3e-6 and of about 4.4e-6  is observed respectively on March 20 and March 25.
  • Further bright blazars detected all week with daily flux between about 0.7e-6 and 0.9e-6: NGC 1275, PKS 1510-08, S5 1044+71, BL Lac, PKS 1424-41.

Fermi LAT Weekly report N. 448


Covered period: 2017 January 2-8
LAT Mission week: 448.57-449.57


  • CTA 102 detected all week in outburst state with daily fluxes above 10.0e-6 from Jan. 4 to Jan 8. In particular on Jan. 6 and Jan. 7, the source reached the daily flux level of (19.8 +/-0.7)e-6 (with photon index 1.9+/-0.1) and of (18.3 +/-0.7)e-6 (with photon index 2.1+/-0.1) respectively. The 6-hour averaged peak flux of CTA 102 on Jan. 6 was (24.3+/-1.7)e-6 corresponding to about 150 times the averaged 3FGL flux of the source, and about 2.4 times the averaged 3FGL flux of the Vela pulsar. 
  • 3C 454.3 detected all week with daily fluxes between about 1.7e-6 and 2.8e-6.
  • NGC 1275 (Per A, 3C 84) detected all week with daily fluxes between about 0.6e-6 and 0.8e-6. In particular on Jan. 3, NGC 1275 showed a photon index around 1.8 and one possible photon of 241 GeV energy spatially consistent with the source.
  • PKS 1424-41 detected all week with daily fluxes between about 0.7e-6 and 0.9e-6.
  • PKS 0426-380 detected in high state on Jan. 2, Jan. 4 and Jan. 5, each day at a flux level of (1.2+/-0.2)e-6. 
  • S5 1044+71 detected in high state all week with daily fluxes between about 0.6e-6 and 1.0e-6. 
  • S4 0917+62 (OK 630) detected in flaring state on Jan. 4 with daily flux (0.8+/-0.1)e-6. 
  • PKS 0438-43 detected in flaring state on Jan. 3 with daily flux (0.9+/-0.1)e-6. 
  • PKS 0907-023 detected in flaring state on Jan. 4 with daily flux (0.7+/-0.2)e-6. 
  • PMN J2153-1136 detected in flaring state on Jan. 2 with daily flux (0.9+/-0.2)e-6. 
  • PKS 1510-08 detected on Jan. 5 with daily flux about 1.0e-6. 
  • 3C 279 detected in the second paert of the week with daily fluxes between about 0.6e-6 and 0.8e-6.

  • CTA 102 was detected all week with daily averaged fluxes between (7.0 +/- 0.5) and (21.7 +/- 0.7). This is the highest daily averaged flux the LAT has ever observed from CTA 102. ToO observations were made for 430 ks starting on 2016 Dec. 29. For more information see ATel #9924.
  • S5 1044+71 was detected all week with daily averaged fluxes between (0.6 +/- 0.1) and (1.1 +/- 0.2). For more information see ATel #9928.
  • NGC 1275 was detected all week with daily averaged fluxes between (0.4 +/- 0.1) and (2.2 +/- 0.3).
  • 3C 454.3 was detected on Dec. 26 with a daily averaged flux of (2.1 +/- 0.3).
  • PKS 1510-08 was detected Dec. 26-29 with daily averaged fluxes between(0.5 +/- 0.1) and (1.0 +/- 0.2).
  • Sporadic daily detections of blazars (fluxes below 1): Ton 599, PKS B1424-418, OK 630, 3C 279, Mkn 421, 3C 66A, PKS 0426-380, PKS 0208-512, 4C +48.51, PKS 2155-304, B2 2113+29, 3C 273.

  • 3C 454.3 was detected all week with daily averaged fluxes between (3.9 +/- 0.2) and (5.3 +/- 0.2).
  • PKS 2247-131 was detected all week with daily averaged fluxes between (0.8 +/- 0.2) and (1.2 +/- 0.1).
  • Sporadic daily detections of blazars (fluxes below 1): 3C 279, OK 630, 1ES 1215+303, NGC 1275, S5 1044+71, PKS B1424-418, Mkn 421, PKS 0537-441, PKS 0426-380, 3C 345, PKS 1502+106, 3C 273.

Fluxes are in the unit of 10-6 photons/cm2/s above 100 MeV. All errors are statistical only.

Source association is done on the basis of source location, considering spatial coincidence only, and it is not indicative of an identification.
